Dux Otago Boys High 1929; MA Otago University 1933; Rhodes Scholar Oxford Uni 1934, after study lectured in English at Kansas Uni, Lithuania and Sofia Uni, Belgrade.When WWll began stayed in Bulgaria as press attache as he spoke Bulgarian.
