Note

Edward took over the running of the Family business during W/W 1,but his early death after an appendix operation left his widow Laura, to carry on running dairy herd which had grown to 25, and bring up her 4 children. Part of the farm was arable, but for a regular income it depended on a twice daily milk round with pony and float. After 1945 a bottled delivery service commenced. In 1955 The Edgells moved into milk wholesaling having acquired Hampshire Farm and expanded to 80 cows. They ceased retailing in 1962.
