I started collecting family history in about 2013. I was inspired for a number of reasons:

Great work done by on my mother's Family Tree, held in Tribal pages.

Thanks to cousin Ewan Hyde (and his mother Lil in earlier times) [Information held as the HydeBrims family tree]

Equally impressive contributions regarding grandmother Janet Burrell (nee Morrison) by my second cousins Lester Oliver and Margaret Revell. Lester runs the Old Hawkes Bay facebook page too.

A box of Burrell family records and photographs, bequeathed by my aunt Gwen Curd (nee Burrell) - Needing work!

It became clear that records for the Burrell family were widely dispersed in places such as Internet sites, Norfolk history and Kaikoura Museum. Contradictions and inaccuracies were everywhere. I even needed to clarify how many brothers and sisters my grandfather George Burrell had.

For the Burrells, this was a great starting point. (From Page 17) http://www.lynly.gen.nz/HVFBurrellAlexander.pdf

Investigations to date show the Burrells became a colourful, diverse and widely spread family - after the humblest of beginnings.

Cardboard boxes and proprietary genealogy computer packages do not provide the access, nor the checks and balances, that Wiki Tree does. Wiki Tree has all the advantages of Wikipedia - easy to use, great for building information, great for challenging information believed to be inaccurate. And free too.

Wiki Tree is the best central place to keep best current informationm and to turn yourself into a recipient of information and enquiries. Make sure that you are added to the tree.
